DK WC Discount Product Docs

DK WC Discount Product adds product-level percentage discounts to WooCommerce. Use this guide to set discounts, edit them from the Products list, understand how they interact with sale prices, and manage retained data. What the Plugin Does

DK WC Discount Product stores a Discount % value on a WooCommerce product or variation. When the product is using its regular price, the plugin displays the regular price and calculated discounted price using WooCommerce sale-price formatting. It also applies the calculated unit price to eligible cart and checkout items.

The discount is product data, not a coupon. Customers do not enter a code, and the discount is applied before WooCommerce calculates the remaining cart totals.

Requirements and Initial Setup

WooCommerce and DK Base Plugin must be installed and active. No storefront configuration is required after activation.

  1. In WordPress Admin, open Products > All Products.
  2. Edit the product you want to discount.
  3. In the Product data panel, open General and enter the percentage in Discount %.
  4. Update the product.

Use a value from 0 through 100. A blank value or 0 disables the percentage discount. Enter the percentage itself—for example, enter 20 for a 20% discount.

Plugin Settings

Open DK Plugins > Discount Product to manage the plugin's uninstall behavior. The settings page does not control the individual product discounts; those are edited on products, variations, or through Quick Edit and Bulk Edit.

  • Delete Data On Uninstall disabled: The plugin settings are retained if the plugin is deleted.
  • Delete Data On Uninstall enabled: The plugin settings option is deleted during uninstall.

Product and variation Discount % metadata is retained in either case. Deactivating the plugin also keeps all settings and product metadata.

Variable Products

Variable products display a Discount % field in their variation settings. The selected variation's stored percentage is used for its price display and cart price. Save the product after updating variation values. Variable parents do not have their own discount; previously stored parent discounts are ignored and removed when the parent is saved.

Quick Edit and Bulk Edit

The Products list includes a Discount % column so administrators can review stored values without opening each product. Variable products list only non-zero variation discounts, for example, eBook: 15, audiobook: 20. A dash means no variations have a non-zero discount.

  • Quick Edit: Open Quick Edit for one product, change Discount %, and save. This field is hidden for variable products; edit their variation settings instead.
  • Bulk Edit: Select products, choose Edit from Bulk actions, and click Apply. Under Discount %, choose Change to:, enter the value, and update the selected products. Leave the control at No change to preserve existing values. Variable products are skipped; their variation discounts are unchanged.

Existing Sale Prices Take Priority

The percentage discount is applied only when the product's current WooCommerce price equals its regular price. If WooCommerce is already returning a different price—for example, because an active sale price or another pricing rule is in effect—the plugin leaves that price unchanged instead of stacking its percentage discount.

When a scheduled sale ends and the product returns to its regular price, the stored percentage discount can apply again.

Troubleshooting

  • The discount is not displayed: Confirm the value is greater than zero and the product is not already using a WooCommerce sale price or another reduced current price.
  • The cart keeps an existing lower price: This is expected. The plugin does not stack its percentage discount on top of a price that is already different from the regular price.
  • A bulk edit did not change products: Make sure Change to: was selected before updating.
  • The settings page does not list product discounts: Use Products > All Products and the Discount % column to review them.
